The rugby Rome
It happens from time to time to see some rugby match on TV and every time, I am surprised to see it placed in large stadiums full of fans. At a minimum run accident assistants and nurses with an organization that rivals that of football clubs.
From 1945 to 1950 (when I later transferred to Milan) to Rome I followed the rugby field Grelle Water Sorrel. When it was good we were two hundred spectators. Normally we were not more than one hundred: all relatives or friends. I started to go because Rome was the scrum half Scialoja Carlo, with whom he had known since 1932 and because gradually I became friends with other players: Bubi Farinelli - who will captain the team in 47 -, Paolo Rosi, "head glass (can not remember the name but he always wore a helmet). Carlo Scialoja in rugby Ciccio and Ferraris in diving were my sports references, even if only for a second year I followed suit. There were no assistants in the field outside of the players on the bench and if something happened they ran sisters and friends. I just went with a sister Raffaella Scialoja. We could not even the next day, telling of the match and a fight with someone, to talk about rugby there was no room in the chats or arguments Monday.
Now I see that the players compete with Totti and Cannavaro in making calendars and be stars. Much time has passed. But a square in Rome is named Bubi Farinelli.
