Like every year I spent at the turn of August 1 two weeks in Ortisei. Same hotel,
same people (at least ten years), courteous and friendly reception Oswald Demetz, same guide, same trip in spite of the availability of the car to lead us towards new goals Flavia with Matt and Violet. Something has changed, however. The increased attention of hoteliers, real authority in the zone, the longest and most lucrative winter holiday, and 'become so obvious as to be unpleasant. It is not just the fault of the climate if it is not a fungus, and if the berries we eat come from abroad. Nor is it just the fault of the contractor if the cable car that will replace the old chairlift Rascesa (it was Europe's longest cable car) from where the eye
ranged up to the Marmolada, was not ready for the summer season, leaving Rascesa and the huts around Ortles not be reached. It will be ready in any event for skiers, with new tracks that cut the wood. And, at this point one begins to ask, if Ortisei, where I go from 1942, is still a goal to be desired in the summer.
